Courses

The following courses still have places available on them:

There will also be a free OCN Administration course on Wednesday 7 March from 1.30 to 3.30 at the Cricket Road Centre for which places are still available. Every school needs to have an OCN Administrator to ensure that staff and pupils can access their OCN e-mail, the OCN conferences and Digitalbrain. Apply to attend this course directly to Christine Ruane, the ICT Administrator, either by phone (01865-428034), fax (01865-428030) or e-mail (christine.ruane@oxfordshire.gov.uk)

Red Nose Day

Red Nose Day (Friday 16th March 2007) is rapidly approaching and Comic relief have set up an area of their website specifically for schools. On the website in the Teach area is a whole host of resources such as music and videos that would be ideal for use in assemblies leading up to the event or during PSHCE lessons. The videos, which can be found by investigating the resource base in the Teach area, can be downloaded and used in conjunction with SMART Notebook software.

Visit http://www.rednoseday.com/at-school/ for further information.

PRIMARY

ICT in Foundation Stage course

There are still some places left on the ICT in Foundation Stage course on 27th February 2007. This course will explore integrating ICT into the Early Learning Goals and identify areas of the curriculum which can be enhanced by the use of ICT. Teachers will be given an opportunity to look at some new Early Years planning documents and software. There will be opportunities to explore how other technologies can be used to motivate and enthuse young children about the use of ICT.

SECONDARY

Media Box

The government has launched Mediabox, a new £6 million fund which is giving grants for media projects to 13-19 year-olds. The aim is to encourage young people in England, especially those from groups under-represented in the media, the chance to develop their skills through a one-off project. They can apply now for grants of between £100 and £500 for individuals and between £100 and £1,000 for groups of young people working together. Larger grants of up to £80,000 are available for youth and/or media organisations. A wide range of media categories are eligible, including moving image, radio, advertising, print and interactive media & games. Grants will be available until the end of January 2008; the projects must be completed by the end of March 2008.
